Addiction effects everyone that is around the addict. I know first hand the devastating effects of addiction, all to well! Addiction is a really hard thing to put your finger on, but you can feel the effects . You see the person you love that is addicted start to look as if they are withering away and not know what is happening. The addict can act irrational at times and you not know that it is the drugs effecting them. The addict has no drive for life presuing dreams and hopes , they only live to get high (but you don't know that at first ) . Then you see that everything that they had gone, but no good reason for the things being gone. We can try to help the addict, but everything we do seems like just putting a band-aide on the situation.The only thing that can have lasting change is to get the addict into long term treatment.
